10 Tricks for April Fools' Day

April Fools' Day is coming soon. Are you ready to play some pranks on your friends? Let's get nasty with some of these pranks!

1. Unplug the mouse
Simply unplug the mouse from your friend's computer when he/she is away from it. It would take awhile for them to figure out what's wrong.

2. Wet shoes
Place a small water balloon in the toes section of your friends' shoes. Watch for their reaction when they've got wet feet.

3. Tasty cakes
Get a sponge for car wash the size of a cake. Cover it with frosting to make it look like a cake. Then put it out in the office pantry or wherever people leave free food. Sit back as one of your colleagues tries to cut a slice.

4. Cereal boxes
Change the contents of the cereal box into peanuts or anything different.

5. Rat in the closet
Put a toy rat in one of your sister/roommate's closet. Boy, are they gonna be in for a surprise!

6. Bad Odor
Place some cheese cream on your friend's deodorant stick. They won't notice it until they had it on.

7. Don't eat it
Take a brownie and form it to look like a dog poo. Place it in between your friend's t'shirt. When he/she tells you about it, bend over and examine it. Then grab it and put it into your mouth. He/she will definitely be in for a shock.

8. Sweet Tooth
Replace a toothpaste tube with frosting. Check the reaction of the victim when they try to brush their teeth.

9. Do you see it?
Get a few friends to help you on this one. On any busy street corner, just point up to the top of a building or maybe to the sky. Watch and see how many people are trying to see what you are looking at.

10. Time to wake up
Set the victim's alarm clock to wake up in the middle of the night or better yet, set a few alarm clocks to wake up very early in the morning and hide them at different places of the victim's room.

How Not To Raise A Spender?

It is not easy to get your kids to manage their money, but it is important to teach them to do so at an early stage, so that when they grow up, they can be financially independent.

1.         Begin with a weekly allowance
In order for kids to learn money management, first they need to have their own money.  So, start them off with a weekly allowance.  Let your kids know what is worth spending their money on but always leave the final decision to them, so that they can learn from their mistakes.  In the event that they have spent all their money in the first few days, don’t give them extra cash.  Instead, make them sandwiches to bring to school, so that they can’t buy anymore goodies from school.  Don’t bail them out or they will never learn the consequences of reckless spending.

2.         Start them young
As soon as they begin to demand for the things they want, it is time for an allowance.  Usually it is around the age of 4 to 6. Most parents would wait until their children are in their teens.  While they are still young, take the opportunity to discuss with them about money.  They are quick to listen and take advice from their parents.

3.         How much is enough?
Giving too much cash to your child may not be better for him. Kids don’t know how to differentiate between a want and a need.  They won’t see the reason why they should save when you can buy them whatever things they want.   So, if you decide to give them a big allowance, tell them that you won’t buy them anything extra.  Instead get them to start saving their allowance for the things that they want.  The satisfaction of getting something after weeks of fighting the urge to spend gives them a boost in self-confidence and a valuable lesson about saving money.

4.         Working for cash
Some parents make their children work for some extra allowance by giving them household chores.  I would strongly advise against this, as then they won’t lift a finger to help you when they don’t need the money.  They should understand that everyone in the family is expected to contribute their time and energy.

5.         Have a savings account
Set up a savings account for them.  Make sure they keep their account balance updated every month. It would give them confidence and satisfaction just seeing the numbers increase.

So, be wise in teaching your kids about how to manage their money. They will be more aware of the value of money when they have their own money.

Bears are powerful animals and can be dangerous. They are usually campers’ worse nightmare. So, what must you do when you are faced with a bear?

  1. Keep your distance from the bear.
  2. Walk away calmly and quietly. It will probably not bother you.
  3. Do not run as this will excite the bear to chase you.
  4. Do not climb a tree as some bears are excellent climbers.
  5. Do not try to wrestle with the bear. It is not like the one you see in “The Jungle Book”.
  6. Try to make yourself look bigger. It will usually frighten the bear away.
  7. Make loud noises to scare the bear away.
  8. Use pepper spray on the bear if it gets too close.
  9. Hit the ground immediately and curl yourself up into a fetal position, bring your knees to your chest to protect your stomach, protect your head with your arms and cover the back of your neck with your hands.
  10. If all else fails, just play dead. A grizzly bear will stop attacking when they feel there’s no longer a threat.

The Encyclopedia

An encyclopedia is a series of books that contain general information about many topics. It is somewhat like a dictionary except that it covers more factual information than that of a dictionary. The encyclopedia will not provide you with as much information as a textbook, but it does give a basic overview of each topic, so that you will have a place to start learning.

It often includes illustrations, maps and photographs and you can explore in depth on a topic that you are interested in. Just like a dictionary, the articles in the encyclopedia are arranged in alphabetical order.

Nowadays you can access the encyclopedia via the world wide web. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that anyone can access. Wikipedia is used as a research tool. Having able to access the encyclopedia through the internet makes it easier for students to do their school project.

What to do when faced with a snake?

You are most likely to encounter snakes whenever you are hiking, climbing, camping or even in your house. Here are a few suggestions of what to do when you are faced with a snake.
  1. Stay calm.
  2. Freeze like a statue and then slowly back away.
  3. Do not attempt to kill it.
  4. Leave the snake alone and calmly back off as quickly and quietly and as far away as you can and let it have its space to slither away.
  5. Do not provoke the snake as angering the snake would result in a single response.
  6. Do not poke it with a stick or throw stones at it as you will be asking for trouble.
  7. Try to recognize the signs of a snake about to strike. The strike of a rattlesnake is faster than the human eye.
  8. Place a heavy blanket over it to clam it down. It will feel secure if it cannot see what is happening outside the blanket.
  9. If you have a water hose nearby, spraying it from a distance will persuade the snake to leave.
  10. Call on the experts to come and catch the snake.

Must We Suffer?

Earthquake, flood, famine, drought
Ever wonder what brought this about?
Politics, greed, selfishness, power
Its happening everywhere the world over

Forests we bring down, resources we deplete
For what? The industries for them to feed
Technology and development is the game
Who suffers? The environment, what a shame

Do we care enough for our environment?
All for the sake of wealth and development
Take heed my friends of global warming
Make the catastrophes our last warning

Why Are We Born This Way?

Why are we born with two eyes in front?

So that we must not always look back, but see what lies ahead, beyond ourselves.

Why are we born with two ears – one left and one right?

So that we can hear both sides, collect both the compliments and criticisms, to see which is right.

Why are we born with only one tongue?

Because the tongue is a sharp weapon. It can hurt, flirt and kill.

Why are we born with a brain hidden away in a skull?

So that no matter how poor we are, we are still rich, for no one can steal what our brain contains.

Why are we born with only one heart, deep in our ribs?

So that we can appreciate and give love from deep within.
