Bears are powerful animals and can be dangerous. They are usually campers’ worse nightmare. So, what must you do when you are faced with a bear?

  1. Keep your distance from the bear.
  2. Walk away calmly and quietly. It will probably not bother you.
  3. Do not run as this will excite the bear to chase you.
  4. Do not climb a tree as some bears are excellent climbers.
  5. Do not try to wrestle with the bear. It is not like the one you see in “The Jungle Book”.
  6. Try to make yourself look bigger. It will usually frighten the bear away.
  7. Make loud noises to scare the bear away.
  8. Use pepper spray on the bear if it gets too close.
  9. Hit the ground immediately and curl yourself up into a fetal position, bring your knees to your chest to protect your stomach, protect your head with your arms and cover the back of your neck with your hands.
  10. If all else fails, just play dead. A grizzly bear will stop attacking when they feel there’s no longer a threat.

The Encyclopedia

An encyclopedia is a series of books that contain general information about many topics. It is somewhat like a dictionary except that it covers more factual information than that of a dictionary. The encyclopedia will not provide you with as much information as a textbook, but it does give a basic overview of each topic, so that you will have a place to start learning.

It often includes illustrations, maps and photographs and you can explore in depth on a topic that you are interested in. Just like a dictionary, the articles in the encyclopedia are arranged in alphabetical order.

Nowadays you can access the encyclopedia via the world wide web. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that anyone can access. Wikipedia is used as a research tool. Having able to access the encyclopedia through the internet makes it easier for students to do their school project.

What to do when faced with a snake?

You are most likely to encounter snakes whenever you are hiking, climbing, camping or even in your house. Here are a few suggestions of what to do when you are faced with a snake.
  1. Stay calm.
  2. Freeze like a statue and then slowly back away.
  3. Do not attempt to kill it.
  4. Leave the snake alone and calmly back off as quickly and quietly and as far away as you can and let it have its space to slither away.
  5. Do not provoke the snake as angering the snake would result in a single response.
  6. Do not poke it with a stick or throw stones at it as you will be asking for trouble.
  7. Try to recognize the signs of a snake about to strike. The strike of a rattlesnake is faster than the human eye.
  8. Place a heavy blanket over it to clam it down. It will feel secure if it cannot see what is happening outside the blanket.
  9. If you have a water hose nearby, spraying it from a distance will persuade the snake to leave.
  10. Call on the experts to come and catch the snake.

Must We Suffer?

Earthquake, flood, famine, drought
Ever wonder what brought this about?
Politics, greed, selfishness, power
Its happening everywhere the world over

Forests we bring down, resources we deplete
For what? The industries for them to feed
Technology and development is the game
Who suffers? The environment, what a shame

Do we care enough for our environment?
All for the sake of wealth and development
Take heed my friends of global warming
Make the catastrophes our last warning

Why Are We Born This Way?

Why are we born with two eyes in front?

So that we must not always look back, but see what lies ahead, beyond ourselves.

Why are we born with two ears – one left and one right?

So that we can hear both sides, collect both the compliments and criticisms, to see which is right.

Why are we born with only one tongue?

Because the tongue is a sharp weapon. It can hurt, flirt and kill.

Why are we born with a brain hidden away in a skull?

So that no matter how poor we are, we are still rich, for no one can steal what our brain contains.

Why are we born with only one heart, deep in our ribs?

So that we can appreciate and give love from deep within.

A Good Idea For A Home Alarm System

Before going to sleep, make sure that you always have your car key beside your bed.

In case you hear of any noise outside your home or that someone is trying to break into your house, all you need is to just press the alarm button on your car key.

If your car alarm goes off, the burglar is unlikely to stick around for long.

10 Signs To Show That Your Spouse Is Cheating On You

    1.         Sudden change of behavior that continue from time to time
Sometimes it could be a change of work routine, such as staying late at the office or having long lunches. Call him often just to see if he’s there or drop in on him at the office and bring him some cookies or a present as an excuse.

    2.         Always picking on you and looking for things to criticize
This could mean that she’s trying to find a way to justify leaving the relationship for good. She could resort to creating a fight to find an excuse to leave the house in a bad mood and to stay away for hours.

    3.         Sudden change in appearance
He could be taking more interest in dressing better and being more careful with grooming in general.

    4.         Getting lots of phone calls lately
She suddenly seems to get a lot of phone calls on her mobile and avoids taking those calls in your presence. It could be the other guy!

    5.         Missing phone calls
What if he/she fails to call you at the appropriate time? It is not easy to sneak in a call when he/she is with someone else, right?

    6.         Going out with his male friends
Supposedly he is suddenly going out with his male friends. Ask him where he’s going, and go check it out yourself. But be sneaky!

    7.         Missing important dates
Does she miss important dates which she never used to forget? Sometimes it happens when the human mind is focused on someone else.

    8.         Loses interest in the things around the house
He would lose interest in his usual activities around the house like mowing the lawn, doing house repairs, etc.

    9.         A significant decrease in affection
He/She may be showing you a significant decrease in the level of affection. You can tell of a wandering heart if the affection that used to be showered on you has diminished to a simple caress or just a gentle kiss.

    10.       A change in your sex life
Notice any abrupt change in your sex life? Is he holding out on you physically? Or he may probably want more sex and start making strange requests or want to try out new positions and become aggressive during sex.

So, now you know when your spouse could be cheating on you.
Time to open your eyes ... and keep them opened. If you notice at least two of them, start taking actions to save your marriage. Don't wait until it is too late.

    Recycling Is A Necessity

Recycling?  Sure everybody knows what recycling is, what to recycle and how to recycle, but how many people actually recycle.  Are enough efforts being done to create awareness on the need to recycle, especially amongst young children?  They are the ones that will be adversely affected if nothing is done now to save and protect the environment.

Millions and millions of trees are cut every year and the Earth is constantly being mined of all its minerals and resources.  All for what, if not to feed the industries that use virgin resources for their manufacturing processes and products.  Recycling is no longer an option, it is a necessity.

Using recyclables as a raw material resource can help to reduce the need to use virgin material.   We should be very concerned about conservation of nature and to realize the full potential of our ability and our responsibility to make a positive change towards the environment.  Saving the environment is not just the moral thing to do but it is also a great way to save money, energy and time and also to live a longer and healthier life.  A very important thing that we must remember is that the future of all life on earth depends on each and every one of us.

That is why it is so important that we inculcate the importance of recycling and care for the environment in young children so that as they grow older they become mindful of this fact and will be able to adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle.

So, to those who have done their part in recycling, a thumbs-up to all of you.  All of you have taken the wise step of doing your bit to save our Earth.  After all, it’s the only home we have, so don’t you think it’s worth saving?  Someone once said, “Alone we will fail but together we fail not.”

    Keep recycling, every one!!!

Talking To Your Children About Sex

"mom, what is sex?" a child of 7 asked suddenly. Mom was taken aback and after quick seconds of deliberation decided that it was time to give her little girl some first hand sex education. She sat her down and began to describe the anatomies of man and woman, and how sexual intercourse produced babies. The girl sat wild eyed and listened with her jaw dropped. Before mom finished, she ran shouting to her dad "now I know what you and your sec were doing in the office everyday, you were making babies!". Then she ran out to the garden to play with the other kids."

Sex is a taboo subject in many families. Sex education at school might come too late for many youngsters. They had already learnt about sex one way or another, and had the wrong ideas deeply implanted in their brains. Like the forbidden fruit, sex is always tempting and a challenging allurement to the early teens. Many young ones wanted to show their maturity and had gone great length to lose their virginity. Once started on the wrong footing, the process of learning and having the right ideas and attitude towards sex would be a colossal task to put a deviant path back straight. Sexual deviants are not in small numbers, quite impossible to count as many are hidden in dark cupboards, and the porno industries worldwide are making mega bucks. Why the mystery? What's the big deal?!  True but that's the fact that all parents have to face in bringing up their kids to have good and healthy sex education.

Many parents found it awkward to implement sex education at home. Some even found it unnecessary. They believe they were liberal enough to allow children access to sexual literature and internal access. It would be futile to hide. And they were available to discuss if the kids needed to talk to them. But kids don't talk to them. They talk to other kids instead and read the wrong books and magazines. Boys looked at girls as sex objects and failed to learn to respect girls. Girls would found out their own attraction and might use sex as a tool to get the things they wanted.

The question will usually crop up when the child is between the ages of 9 to 12. Children see, hear and talk about sex at an early age. They are always curious but do not ask explicitly. They might ask cursorily and they get an equally simple answer.

Sometimes opportunities arise for you to talk to your children about sex when you watch a movie or television. Sex and love, and forming intimate human relationship are all part and parcel of our culture. Casual sex and morality must not be left out. What makes us different from other animals should be emphasized. Respect for the opposite sex, especially man towards woman, and modesty and the obligation of a gentleman to protect and uphold the dignity and modesty of a woman is also a world heritage and must be perpetuated.

Many parents prefer not to have this kind of conversation with their kids. If you find it uncomfortable to talk to your kids about sex, then perhaps someone else (an aunt or an uncle) who is close and trusted by your child could be entrusted to do it for you.

And please be honest with them.  Never ignore and don't underestimate their curiosity. Bear in mind for a starter, kids do not want to know the details yet, they just want a simple answer to their question. And slowly as knowledge unfolds and learning deepens, you go on to talk about the elaborate details of the birds and the bees. Do not shun away by leading them off track. Don't tell that when a boy lies on top of a girl, they were actually sleeping on bunk beds.

Why Women Played Such An Important Role In Men’s Life

I am a woman and I would tell you why women played such an important role in men’s life.
    1. “Behind every successful man, there is a woman”. Have you ever heard that there was a man behind every successful woman???
    2. God created Eve so that Adam would not be lonely. Obviously a man could not survive without a woman.
    3. Men need women to take care of them. They can't take care of themselves.
    4. Without women, men could not procreate. Women provide men with continuance.
    5. A man's life is never complete without a woman.
    6. Woman is the strongest motivating force for a man. A woman brings out the best in a man.
    7. Men are often helpless and lost without women.
    8. Men are hopeless around the house.
    9. Men need women to toughen them up as they go soft too quickly.
    10. Men need a mother, a wife and a daughter but could not afford to have all 3 at the same time. Only a woman could satisfy all his needs.

Men would go insane if there are no women on this earth. Why I say that? Here’s a scenario. If a woman were to go up to a man in a bar and ask if he wants to sleep with her, I bet the man will instantly jump at that opportunity. Given that a man were to do the same thing to a woman he meets in a bar, he will likely to get slapped on his face and get thrown out of the bar.
